Thinking About Performing?

We have both seasoned pros and also newbies who join us so don't think this isn't for you too! If you're a local established act who would just love to support one of our festivals or if you are simply wanting a bit more stage experience to perform in public, please fill in your details below.

Since 2018, our festivals and events have been run by volunteers, with local people and small businesses working hard to make it a growing success. Being a Radiate Festival performer is really the perfect way to be on stage, be seen to increase your festival exposure and invite your friends to enjoy an open-air performance by you. We all know that booking gigs as an independent artist is not always easy or a fun experience. However when you join us we want to give you the good treatment as a show of our thanks, create a space for you to connect, have a lot of fun and at the same time do something really feel-good and positive for the local community.

We always love giving artists the space to bring their talent to share with an appreciative crowd. Our festival days are a nice vibe and very down to earth. So whatever time and talent you can spare, we’d love to hear from you!

Every year since 2018 our festival works tirelessly to:
  • Give free entry to the over 70’s
  • Support many small Black owned businesses to begin or continue to trade at festivals & outdoor events
  • Provide a festival platform for talent from across the community to perform
  • Support undocumented migrant workers & asylum seekers
  • Advocate for access to parks and open spaces across the public realm

Even though we ourselves are a small Black owned business, we understand that support and giving has to be at the core of how we operate.

GENERAL FAQS

What's Global South? add

So you may be asking - well what & where is the Global South?

Phew we're so glad you asked (hehe!). The phrase “Global South” refers broadly to the regions of Latin America, Caribbean, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. It's one of a family of terms, which includes “Third World” denoting the regions outside Europe and North America, mostly (though not all) low-income and often politically or culturally marginalised.

The Global South has given so much to the identity of the North, enabling our cities in the North to develop their own vibrant offerings largely stemming from the inclusion of the culture of hotter climates.

In the north we are no doubt better off for the enrichment of cultural imports.

What's the Mission? arrow_right

The reason we have some mission statements is because we are a little (or maybe a lot) different to other festivals. We recognise that if we want to build something for the future which is community centred + culturally authentic, we have to be unafraid try alternatives to the big clunky expensive models that have developed over the last 50 years in the industry.

So here below is the mission...

  • Create events with a culture + community-first approach
  • Cultivate a wider appreciation for culture & arts from the Global South in our city, while we encourage more people to particate through the enjoyment of its offering
  • Ensure both fairer & better access to green spaces & open places across our public realm for marginalised communities of the Global South
  • Develop a globally recognised stage for established homegrown & international artists of the Global South
  • Provide a range of professional performance opportunities for both emerging local & international acts while pushing positive cultural narratives of cultures from the Global South
  • Produce & deliver an authentic cultural celebration weekend which proudly represents heritage, roots & community of the Global South
  • Provide a range of both accessible & affordable events options for all to enjoy
  • Centre the joy & freedom of Black culture in safe spaces
  • Grow an annual event that can include & represent a variety of cultures from the Global South
